Last Friday was a difficult day for the Sales and Marketing team as we were informed that we had the arduous task of tasting and evaluating our new Afternoon Tea!
Afternoon Tea is that quintessential English tradition. Started by the 7th Duchess of Bedford who complained of ‘having that sinking feeling’ between lunch and dinner, she requested tea and a light snack to be brought to her rooms and voila Afternoon Tea was started!
We are revitalising our Afternoon Tea; offering different cakes and delicious sweets, tasty jams and our new variety of Ringtons Teas, so that you might have more choice.
So around 3pm (perfect tea time in our opinion) we sat down with the daunting task of seeing if the cakes had risen to the occasion.
Our pastry chef has certainly out done herself and the pastries were delicious. So with some tucked away for partners and children at home, we moved onto the scones and making sure there was enough jam in our new pots to cover our freshly baked scones. This then resulted in the jam then cream or cream then jam argument (personally I’m a jam then cream girl) but luckily we had enough jam to test this out on the two sides of our larger scones.
So it is safe to say that the Sales and Marketing girls were more than happy, if a little bit stuffed, with our new Afternoon Tea and we cannot wait to launch it for our guests so stay tuned for more information!
But why wait until the new year for this delicious treat? Our Festive Afternoon Tea is available this December and is equally as tasty, with roast turkey and cranberry sauce sandwiches and mince pies to get you in the festive mood.
